Pokémon Go: Gotta Catch ‘Em All – no matter the cost

Pokémon Go is the craze sweeping across the world and the “interesting” stories surrounding the hit game keep adding up.

Hackers took down Pokémon Go servers for a while Saturday, and when Pokemon Go Canada launched it crashed the app servers almost immediately. But that’s pretty mild compared to some of the craziest Pokémon Go stories: It seems some people are so obsessed with “Catching ‘Em’ All” that they are putting their lives on the line.

As reported by Fox 12 in Oregon, Michael Baker was stabbed while playing Pokémon Go, and didn’t want to stop the game to get treatment:

“Early Monday morning, Baker was walking near 19th and Filbert in Forest Grove to catch as many Pokémon as possible when he saw another man, possibly playing the same game.

“I saw him go by and asked if he was playing Pokémon Go. He was like ‘what?’ I guess he wanted to battle because he came up at me with a knife.” said Baker. Baker said he didn’t go to the hospital because he still wanted to hunt for Pokémon and other things.

“Right after I was stabbed, I continued my mission to Plaid Pantry for my mission for chips and beer,” Baker said.

Baker’s stabbing is not the only violent incident involving Pokémon Go players:

Two men in San Diego fell off a cliff while playing, while three women – also in San Diego strangely enough – found a dead body floating in the river while searching for Pokémon.

A Florida man shot at two young Pokémon Go players, thinking they were burglars.

As Pokémon Go continues growing in popularity, it’s likely we’ll see more crazy incidents. Why worry about our pesky mortality when you Gotta Catch ‘Em’ All, right?
