New York Judge issues ’emergency stay’ on parts of US President Trump’s controversial order
A US federal judge has blocked part of Donald Trump’s executive order that restricted immigrants and refugees from seven countries.
The ruling means that those who have already entered the US, those who are currently travelling to the US, and those who hold valid visa permits, can enter the United States.
That means those currently detained at airports will be able to enter the country.
Trump’s executive order – which partially matched a campaign promise – has proved divisive, and protests have taken place at airports across the United States.
Some have referred to the executive order as a “Muslim Ban,” however, the restrictions do not apply to the world’s largest Muslim countries.
