One man was killed, and two people were injured when a driver armed with a knife ran down three people in a pedestrian area of the German city of Heidelberg.
Those injured were standing in front a bakery when they were run over.
The man fled the scene carrying a knife, and was then shot by police. The attacker is now in hospital in serious condition.
Twitter users in Germany have been sharing details throughout the day:

Police say the motive for the attack is not yet known, though it does have some similarity to the German Christmas Market attack, where 12 people were killed when a driver plowed into a crowd.
ISIS has called for those kind of attacks around the world, and a growing number of nations have seen terror attacks carried out by lone assailants.
