Syrian Refugee Who Beat Wife “Didn’t Know It Was Illegal”

He didn’t even get any jail time after beating his wife with a hockey stick for 30 minutes.

The open border elites like Justin Trudeau often tell us that we don’t have the right to “impose” our culture on others. Sometimes, they even deny that there is such a thing as Canadian culture, and push for us to become a “Post National State” without any unifying core values.

Of course, this dangerous way of thinking can’t fully obscure the fact that culture exists, and that various cultures are very different from each other.

A disturbing example of this was seen in the case of Mohamad Rafia.

Rafia is a 54 year old man living in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He arrived in Canada as a Syrian refugee about 14 months ago.

In May, he plead guilty to assault causing bodily harm, and uttering threats.

A brutal assault on his wife

On May 18, Rafia took a hockey stick and beat his wife Raghda Aldndal for 30 minutes. After the horrific beating, he told her that he would kill her if she left him.

Aldndal had to be taken to the hospital, and she tried to cover for Rafia by saying she fell in the bathtub.

Here’s where it gets even more disturbing:

Rafia told court – through an interpreter since he doesn’t speak English or French – that he didn’t know it was illegal to beat his wife. According to the Telegraph Journal, Rafia said “he was not aware of the law and he was coming form a background where the laws are completely different.”

He also asked “Why didn’t they explain the law when we first came?”

There are two huge problems here:

First, Rafia shouldn’t have to be told that it’s illegal to beat his wife with a hockey stick and threaten to kill her. That’s just human decency. The fact that this is somehow shocking to him is incredibly disturbing, and he should be deported for his crime.

Second, if it is true that the government didn’t explain anything to him, it means they aren’t making it clear what Canada’s values are. It’s risky enough bringing in tens of thousands of people from a part of the world where women are treated horribly, and that risk is made even worse when the government – probably due to pathetic political correctness – refuses to make our national values clear.

Clearly, many Syrian refugees will not do anything close to what Rafia did. That said, there is no doubt that attitudes towards woman are far more brutal in the middle east than they are here.

The danger of the “Post-National State”

This is the danger of a Post-National State. When our government refuses to acknowledge the superiority of our western culture based upon individual liberty, freedom of speech, and respect for human rights, they are tacitly acknowledging that other cultures are just as good – even when those cultures tolerate, or subtly condone things we find appalling. After all, if we aren’t able to judge other cultures in relation to ours, how can we set out what is right and what is wrong?

This is also the danger of political correctness. As I said, it is simply a fact that women are treated far worse in the middle east & Islamic world than they are in Canada and the rest of western civilization. Yet, political correctness stops many politicians and media elites from saying so. As a result, when we bring in large numbers of people from countries with very different values than our own, we are inevitably bringing in many people who have contempt for our western attitudes towards the legal equality of women (as well as religious freedom and lgbt people.)

Rafia should be deported

Rhafia was welcomed into Canada, and repaid that welcome by brutally beating his wife and then lying about it. He should certainly be deported. The deafening silence of the politically correct elites is quite telling. Rhafia’s wife Raghda is the obvious victim here, but since Rhafia is also seen as part of a “victim group,” nobody wants to say anything about it.

A slap on the wrist

To add insult to injury, Rafia didn’t even get any jail time for the horrific assault on his wife.

He was given only time served and one year probation.

So, after coming to Canada, beating his wife for 30 minutes with a hockey stick, threatening to kill her, and then lying about, he gets off with no jail time.

That is sickening.

It sends a horrible message, and it’s yet another sign of the pathetic weakness of the elite ruling class. They can’t even enforce our values or maintain any respect for our laws, and they appease violence every chance they get.

There is nothing wrong with a country prioritizing immigration from areas of the world that have values strongly compatible with their own. And yet, anyone who expresses this view is denounced by political and media elites.

Unless Canada gets some common-sense leadership fast, things are going to keep getting worse.

The elites want to hide their many failures behind political correctness, deception, and manipulation. We need to push back and spread the truth.

That’s why I write.
