Many expected Shadow Minister roles have already been revealed ahead of the announcement.
A report from CBC News quotes a Conservative source saying Maxime Bernier won’t get the Finance Shadow Minister role he had wanted and publicly advocated for.
Instead – according to the report – Bernier will be named as Shadow Minister for Innovation, Science, and Economic Development (ISED). It’s a high profile role, but may leave Bernier and some of his supporters unhappy.
The source apparently told the CBC other details about tomorrow’s announcement:
- Erin O’Toole – Foreign Affairs
- Gerard Deltell – Treasury Board
- Shannon Stubbs – Natural Resources
- Rachel Harder – Status of Women
- Dan Albas – Small Business
- Alex Nuttal – Youth, Sport & Disability
- Luc Berthold – Agriculture
Deliberate leak?
It’s important to note that this speculation is based on a CBC report quoting one anonymous source allegedly from the Conservative Party.
While it’s likely that the source did so deliberately in order to generate a second news-cycle around the announcement, gauge potential reaction, or to throw people off, tomorrow’s announcement will reveal how much of this is really true.
