Trudeau Government Spends $300K In Court Against Moms Denied Sickness Benefits

Despite pledging to stop fighting the federal case if they formed government, the Trudeau Liberals are spending hundreds of thousands of taxpayers dollars fighting against moms who allege they were unfairly denied sickness benefits. Now, one of the moms is asking why Trudeau settled with Khadr, but keeps fighting against them.

As noted by the Canadian Press, “Federal lawyers have racked up a legal bill of more than $2.36 million fighting a group of women who allegedly were wrongly denied sickness benefits while they were on maternity leave. The costs, revealed in an access to information request filed by The Canadian Press, show the Justice Department added about $300,000 to its bill between early 2016 and last June to fight a case the Liberals once vowed to drop.”

During the 2015 campaign, both the Liberals and NDP promised to “immediately” drop government opposition to the case and settle with the moms. Unsurprisingly given the endless amount of lies we’ve seen from Trudeau, the Liberals went back on that promise after they won.

While the Conservatives started the fight in court against the moms, at least they didn’t falsely promise to end it and then betray their promise. The Liberals said what they needed to say to get some votes, then betrayed those who trusted them.

Now, one of the women leading the case is wondering why Trudeau settled with Omar Khadr but didn’t settle with her and the other moms.

As noted by the CP, “Jennifer McCrea, the woman at the centre of the case, and her lawyer wonder why the government can’t end their case when it settled with former Guantanamo Bay detainee Omar Khadr for $10.5 million and offered up to $750 million to victims of the 60s Scoop, where Indigenous children were taken from their homes and placed with non-native families.”

McCrea says she has been “brushed off by ministers and local MPs, with all saying they couldn’t comment because the matter was before courts.”

The Trudeau trap

The more we see of cases like this, and cases like the one where the Trudeau government is spending over $100K in court to avoid paying for a $6K dental treatment for an Indigenous girl, the more Canadians are wondering why Trudeau really settled with Omar Khadr. Trudeau seems to get quite worked up when discussing Khadr’s “rights” and trying to falsely lay blame on the previous government, and shows far more willingness to criticize past Canadian governments than condemn what Khadr did. Even worse, he seems unwilling to settle with Canadians who have done nothing wrong, showing almost preferential treatment for Khadr and falsely claiming he “had no choice,” but to despicably give away $10.5 million in taxpayers dollars.

It seems Trudeau’s hands are only tied when he’s paying Khadr, but when law-abiding Canadians are in court against the government he has no problem fighting to deny them even a penny.

This gets more and more disturbing every day.

By now everyone who works with Trudeau meaning his Liberal MPs should really hate him. Trudeau never has a logical rationale for his actions; none of this makes sense. Trudeau’ s role is to work for Canadians including responding to Canadians who have concerns or who have been wronged. He is overly generous with outsiders, lawbreakers, complainers and specially with troublemakers. He does not seem to have an ear for genuine claims. The women were asking for compensation that they are entitled to and not at the same time but one after the other. These women are not going to… Read more »

Normally I tend to shy away from some of the more caustic and/or abusive comments hurled at the Liberal government, but there is one ‘take’ on the liberals that, by now, simply says it all and that is ‘lieberals.’ There is not more appropriate terms available.
