WATCH: MP Vecchio Asks For Answers After Hehr’s ‘Insulting’ Comments Towards Thalidomide Survivors

Minister for Disabilities is facing heavy criticism after Thalidomide survivors criticized him in a press conference.

As reported yesterday, Kent Hehr is being heavily criticized after Thalidomide survivors said he made ‘insulting’ comments towards them in a meeting.

Among those reported comments were the following:

“You don’t have it as bad today as adults as you did when you were kids.”

“Everyone in Canada has a sob story. Lots of people have it bad in Canada— disabled people, poor people, not just you.”

“So, you probably have about 10 years left now. That’s good news for the Canadian government.”

Conservative MP Karen Vecchio spoke for many Canadians when she asked for answers from Kent Hehr, as you can see below:

Considering that as Minister for Disabilities Hehr is supposed to be standing up for Canadians with disabilities, he has totally failed.

Vecchio clearly asked for clarification, but Hehr unfortunately just read the same PMO talking points twice in a row, without even putting any emotion into it.

Another fail by the Trudeau government.

The arrogance and disrespect of these liberals is nauseating. Speaker of the house should insist these guys answer questions properly and not from a paper someone prepared for them. This behaviour is insulting to all Canadians.

the speaker of the house, lol. he is just another liberal pos, they have been paid some big time money, by whom, the taxpayer.

He said : thalidomide victims have some 10 years to live. Wow! That is really uncalled for. However, he is a quadriplegic so he is in a good position to understand disabled people. I think that it is part of Herr’s personality to be blunt. He does not feel sorry for himself or any of the disabled. That is the right attitude. All I can say is that Liberal MPs are all disaster choices. It is not like the conservatives such as Poilievre, Scheer, Rempel and I could name many Conservative MPs who are intelligent, common sense and understanding.

Does anyone know the answer to this? Is there any requirement to actually answer a question? Who decides and enforces if a question was actually answered properly or at all? Can you actually just read the same canned answer to several different questions over and over like we have just seen? It seems more and more lately, or maybe it is just these Liberals that actually answering a question with an answer that matters or is even close to the question being asked is not required. Basically we have come to the point where if the mainstream media is not… Read more »
