Goodale laughably claims the info is “classified,” but the government already briefed the media on it.
Before his appalling trainwreck of a scrum, Ralph Goodale was in a committee meeting trying to evade questions about Jaspal Atwal.
The meeting was the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security, and as Public Safety Minister, Goodale has a duty to give answers to Canadians.
He was asked simple, common sense questions, but he didn’t give any real answers – doing his best impression of Justin Trudeau in question period.
Conservative MP Blaine Calkins asked if the RCMP saw the guest list proposed by the PMO for the dinner that Jaspal Atwal was invited to.
Goodale said he had to “make some inquires” to get the answer.
Of course, Ministers are heavily briefed by their staff ahead of these types of meetings, and they would have run through numerous possible questions and scenarios.
That means his claim about info being ‘classified’, and saying he needs to get back to people with answers later, were certainly planned ahead of time.
Yet, he still stumbled over the answers, perhaps feeling a pang of conscience over being part of Trudeau’s endless deceptions.
Also, as you watch the video, you can see that Calkins seems to know more about Goodale’s job than Goodale does.
