Trump Tweets About Canada Again, Says “Fair Trade Is Now To Be Called Fool Trade”

“According to a Canada release, they make almost 100 Billion Dollars in Trade with U.S. (guess they were bragging and got caught!)”, said Trump.

US President Donald Trump is tweeting about Canada (and other issues) again.

Trump repeated his criticism of Canada and the European Union on trade.

Here’s his latest set of tweets from Singapore, ahead of the summit with North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un:

“Fair Trade is now to be called Fool Trade if it is not Reciprocal. According to a Canada release, they make almost 100 Billion Dollars in Trade with U.S. (guess they were bragging and got caught!). Minimum is 17B. Tax Dairy from us at 270%. Then Justin acts hurt when called out!”

“Why should I, as President of the United States, allow countries to continue to make Massive Trade Surpluses, as they have for decades, while our Farmers, Workers & Taxpayers have such a big and unfair price to pay? Not fair to the PEOPLE of America! $800 Billion Trade Deficit…”

“….And add to that the fact that the U.S. pays close to the entire cost of NATO-protecting many of these same countries that rip us off on Trade (they pay only a fraction of the cost-and laugh!). The European Union had a $151 Billion Surplus-should pay much more for Military!”

“….Germany pays 1% (slowly) of GDP towards NATO, while we pay 4% of a MUCH larger GDP. Does anybody believe that makes sense? We protect Europe (which is good) at great financial loss, and then get unfairly clobbered on Trade. Change is coming!”

Trump later added, “Sorry, we cannot let our friends, or enemies, take advantage of us on Trade anymore. We must put the American worker first!”

Sadly, he makes some good sense. Remember Trudeau shortly after his election telling Obama he was pulling our CF-18s out of the battle with ISIS in Syria. Trudeau and his leftist team are so inept at trade negotiations; for example, pushing gender equality (feminism) as an important issue.

I dont know why Trump says that Canada does 100 bln in trade with the US. Here is an official number: Looking to the 2016 customs-based trade in goods data, Canada reported US$297.6 billion in total exports to the United States, which is US$19.8 billion higher than the US$277.8 billion in imports that the United States reported from Canada.Feb 6, 2018.

Trudeau wants to do more trade with China but why? We have a huge deficit with them.

Do you think Trump will believe that it is all Harper’s fault? The show is always over early when you are a one trick pony. Trudeau cannot get out of opposition mode. Trump doesn’t buy it and I don’t either. An old Chinese proverb says “all hype and still no pipe”. A small potato, indeed.

Seriuosly….Why should so many of the people of the US go without, while they have these huge deficit in trade and pay so much more for NATO?

There has to be a better balalance. I also believe the G7 should have been encouraging to President Trumps coming Summit with NorthKorea. Trudeau did not need to insult the President in closing remarks, especially after not discussing anything like that directly with the President. Trudeau is part of the UN
Group trying to push OWG as are the other Countries at this meeting.
