Andrew Scheer Calls For Tougher Punishments For Child Abusers

“We will ensure that anyone who harms or sexually exploits a child will be behind bars, where they belong, for a very long time,” says Scheer.

Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer continues to unveil his vision for the country.

Today, he spoke about the need for tougher penalties for criminals who abuse children.

In his remarks Scheer said “Under my leadership, a Conservative government will always put the rights of victims ahead of the rights of criminals. “We will ensure that anyone who harms or sexually exploits a child will be behind bars, where they belong, for a very long time.”

Currently, the system is incredibly weak, with the toughest penalty for child abuse being 14 years in prison. Notably, that full sentence is rarely applied, and rarely served even when applied, due to the numerous ways the system is slanted towards criminals.

Scheer’s call for tougher penalties will be well-received by Canadians, who are outraged by the pathetically weak justice system.
