A state with the population of Canada, in the world’s richest country, home to some of the world’s largest industries, can’t keep the power on.
California is home to roughly 40 million people.
They are the largest state in the world’s richest & most powerful country.
They are the home of silicon valley, the world’s foremost centre of technological innovation.
They are the home of Hollywood, representing immense culture power.
They have a surprising amount of oil, representing about 8% of US oil production.
And they can’t keep the lights on.
Here’s a Tweet from the mayor of Los Angeles, telling people to shut off their major appliances at 3:00 in the afternoon:
“It’s almost 3 p.m. Time to turn off major appliances, set the thermostat to 78 degrees (or use a fan instead), turn off excess lights and unplug any appliances you’re not using.
We need every Californian to help conserve energy. Please do your part.”

Of course, as you well know, these blackouts don’t happen in the areas frequented by the wealthy elites.
It’s only working class and middle class people who suffer.
As if that wasn’t enough, Californians pay some of the highest energy prices in the United States.
They are paying more, and getting less.
And why is this happening?
Because California went ‘green.’
With big fanfare, California’s politicians made a huge shift to ‘green energy,’ with new taxes, new regulations, and massive spending on ‘reshaping’ the delivery of energy in the state.
As a result, the state now has some of the most unreliable energy in the United States, citizens are subjected to increasingly draconian energy restrictions, and life is less and less affordable.
For all of California’s abundance, their embrace of the ‘green agenda’ has led to them increasingly resembling a third-world country – at least in the delivery of energy.
In any decently functioning country, province, or state, having the power on all the time is not a ‘luxury,’ it is a basic expectation. It’s what we pay taxes for.
A government that can’t do that is clearly incapable of governing.
This is a warning for Canada.
If Justin Trudeau is allowed to impose his radical massive-debt anti-jobs, ‘green agenda,’ the cost of energy will skyrocket, our standard of living will plummet, and we will lose the stability that Canadians count on when it comes to keeping the lights on.
We must stop that from happening.
