Reports indicate at least one person killed, and several are injured.
There are two confirmed deaths, and at least 15 people wounded after a terror attack in Vienna.
According to authorities, there is one known victim, as well as a gunman who was killed.
A search is ongoing for additional terrorists.
It appears to have been a coordinated terror attack.
One attack took place near the Seitenstettengasse Synagogue, though it is unknown if that location was a target.
Authorities say that a police officer guarding the Synagogue is among the wounded.
Here’s what one witness said:
“We heard noises that sounded like firecrackers. We heard about 20 to 30 and we thought that to be actually gunfire. We saw the ambulances… lining up. There were victims. Sadly, we also saw a body lying down the street next to us.”
Here’s what Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said:
“Wir erleben gerade schwere Stunden in unserer Republik. Ich möchte allen Einsatzkräften danken, die insbesondere heute für unsere Sicherheit ihr Leben riskieren. Unsere Polizei wird entschlossen gegen die Täter dieses widerwärtigen Terroranschlags vorgehen.”
“We are currently going through difficult times in our republic. I would like to thank all the emergency services who risk their lives, especially today for our safety. Our police will take decisive action against the perpetrators of this hideous terrorist attack.”
