LATEST UPDATE:
Earlier today, there was a major police presence at the Montreal offices of Ubisoft.
Reports indicated an alleged ‘hostage’ situation, with staff being warned to hide and some securing themselves on the roof.
Police were later seen escorting employees out of the building.
Now, it turns out that the incident was a hoax.
Police have said the call was a hoax, likely a ‘swatting,’ where someone calls police to a location alleging a serious threat, leading to the most heavily armed units responding to the fake threat.
Authorities have not yet apprehended a suspect for the fake call.
