Conservatives Slam NDP & Green MPs For Supporting “Chinese Communist Party Propaganda”

Some MPs from those parties are speaking at an event pushing China’s messaging and calling for the release of Meng Wanzhou, rather than standing up for Canadians Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor.

Two Members of Parliament, NDP MP Niki Ashton and Green MP Paul Manly, are set to speak at an event called a “Zoom panel discussion to Free Meng Wanzhou!”

This has unsurprisingly raised some eyebrows, with people wondering why Canadian MPs would be speaking an event that is pushing the Chinese Communist Party propaganda line.

People are also wondering why those MPs aren’t instead spending their time pushing for the freedom of Canadians Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor.

In Question Period, Conservative MP Raquel Dancho – the Shadow Minister for Immigration, Refugees, & Citizenship – slammed those NDP and Green MPs for supporting Chinese Communist Propaganda instead of Canadian Values.

All Canadians should be concerned by this, especially since it follows some good progress last week, when the Conservatives, Bloc, most NDP, and Green MPs, and five Liberals passed a motion demanding a decision on Huawei and a plan to protect Canadians from China’s Communist intimidation tactics.

By attending this Zoom event, that moment of unity is at risk of being squandered.

I urge you to politely and respectfully contact MP Niki Ashton and MP Paul Manly and express your thoughts on them participating in the “free Meng Wanzhou” Zoom call. Politicians need to hear from us when they act in a way that hurts our country and goes against our values.
