Funny, yesterday Ford was making a big show about how angry he was.
Yesterday, when it was revealed that Ontario Finance Minister Rod Phillips was outside the country on a vacation while Ontarians are being advised against international travel, Ford made a big show of how angry he was and how Phillips’ actions were ‘unacceptable.’
He added that he would be talking to Phillips upon his return, and that Phillips should return ASAP.
It gave the impression that Ford was shocked, had just found out about the trip, and was going to take action in response to public outrage.
But, it turns out that’s not the case.
In fact, Ford knew about Phillips’ trip two weeks ago.
Huh.
“I did call him shortly after he arrived and I talked to him and asked where he was. He said he was away,” said Ford.
“My mistake. I take full responsibility. At that time, I should have said, ‘get your backside back to Ontario,’ and I didn’t do that.”
Well, that’s quite a different sentiment than Ford was sharing yesterday.
This means that Ford wasn’t actually angry, he is simply trying to play damage control and put on a show of ‘outrage’ in the hopes that he won’t take any heat.
But, it is now clear that Ford knew all about the trip, knew all about the hypocrisy, and did nothing.
And unless he immediately fires Phillips, Ford will appear more and more like the entitled politicians he once claimed to be replacing.
