Top Pallister Government ‘Civil Servant’ David McLaughlin Ignored Stay-At-Home Order, Left Manitoba, Gathered With Family In Ottawa, Was Exempted From Quarantine Requirement

They are throwing their privilege and arrogance in our faces.

Add another to the list of hypocritical government officials who demand that you get locked down while they ignore the restrictions they put on you.

In Manitoba, the province has been put under strict lockdown orders.

Premier Brian Pallister even started crying during a press conference about how he was ‘the guy who cancelled Christmas.’

Yet, it turns out that Christmas was only cancelled for regular Manitobans.

The political elite got to have Christmas after all.

Because, it turns out that while Pallister and the Manitoba government was telling everyone to stay home and stay away from family gatherings, top Manitoba ‘civil servant’ David McLaughlin travelled to Ottawa to visit his family over the Christmas break:

“I TOLD YOU SO!

THE TOP SELF-SERVING PEOPLE DIDN’T FOLLOW THE RULES!

TIME TO GO BACK TO REAL LIFE!

@BrianPallister
– END THE LOCKDOWNS OR FIRE DAVID MCLAUGHLIN! #mbpoli”

Winnipeg Free Press Headline

Not only did McLaughlin do what the province has told others not to do – travel to see his family – but he was also exempted from the two-week self-quarantine requirement.

Clearly, the Manitoba government thinks rules are only for ‘the little people,’ not the well-connected political elitist class.

In a pathetic statement, Pallister comms chief Blake Robert said “The assertion that the Clerk of Executive Council was on vacation is false and it would be grossly inaccurate for such a narrative to be propagated.”

That statement of course doesn’t address the real issue, which is that while the government McLaughlin is a part of tells the rest of us to stay home, avoid travel, and avoid gathering with our families, McLaughlin left his Manitoba home, travelled, and gathered with is family.

It’s absolutely disgusting, and it shows that a sense of reeking entitlement is festering among all the parties at all levels of government.

“The assertion that the Clerk of Executive Council was on vacation is false….” As Spencer said; this spin sidesteps the main point: The Clerk traveled. He broke the stay-home order. Whether he was on vacation; or playing Tiddlywinks; doesn’t matter. I give this pathetic spin an “F.”
