On a day in which Trudeau fielded the brunt of questions in the House of Commons, Pierre Poilievre slammed Trudeau’s record on the economy.
After going quiet on social media for a while following Erin O’Toole removing him from the finance critic role, Pierre Poilievre questioned Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Question Period.
As is the case most Wednesday’s, Trudeau fielded the brunt of questions, meaning that even in his new role Poilievre’s inquiry’s were met with a response from the PM.
Poilievre slammed the growing discrepancy between Canada’s peer countries who are recovering jobs, while Canada is losing jobs, even amid immense government spending.
You can watch Poilievre vs Trudeau below:
While it is great to see Poilievre and Trudeau face off, Poilievre’s new role (widely seen as a demotion that is not being well-received among many Conservatives) means most of his questions will likely be answered by lower-level government ministers, rather than his regular back and forth with finance minister Chrystia Freeland.
That said, Poilievre will continue to be one of the most popular MPs among the Conservative base, and his large following on social media will continue to give him influence despite the endless and counter-productive backroom political scheming in Ottawa.
