Devastating Testimony Raises Even More Doubts About RCMP Commissioner

How can Canadians trust any institution when they are all so politicized, and when those who try to maintain professionalism and objectivity are treated so poorly?

If the Liberal government and RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki were hoping to avoid devastating testimony at the inquiry into Allegations of Political Interference in the 20202 Nova Scotia Mass Murder Investigation, it hasn’t turned out that way.

Instead, RCMP Chief Superintendent Darren Campbell revealed that Lucki “made me feel as if I was stupid and I didn’t seem to understand the importance of why this information was important to go out – the information specific to the firearms as it was related to the legislation.”

Campbell also said “The commissioner told my colleagues and I that we didn’t understand, that this was tied to pending legislation that would make officers and the public safer.”

It can’t be overstated how much of a problem this is.

Campbell’s testimony confirms the worst-case scenario many had feared:

The RCMP Commissioner used her position to push the agenda of the Trudeau Liberal government.

Things are upside-down

In theory, it should have been the RCMP Commissioner upholding the importance of neutrality and keeping the institution depoliticized. If a subordinate didn’t get it, then they would either have it explained to them, or they would be fired.

But instead, things are completely upside-down.

It was a subordinate who was doing the right thing, who was trying to uphold the neutrality of the RCMP as an institution that was above politics, while the Commissioner tried to use her power to impose a political agenda.

This would be bad, even in a third-world country.

In a country like Canada – where the rule of law is supposed to prevail – this kind of politicization of an institution should result in widespread personnel changes – and particularly with the firing of the RCMP Commissioner.

Institutions are responsible for the collapse of trust

While many institutions in Canada have been lamenting the fact that Canadians don’t trust them, they have only themselves to blame.

From the media, to the Bank of Canada, and now the RCMP, institution after institution has been politicized and turned into nothing more than extension of the Liberal political agenda.

Until that changes, Canadians will remain unable to trust our institutions.
