WATCH: Pierre Poilievre Confronts Media Bias At Press Conference

The Conservative leader effectively pushed back against the Liberal narrative.

At a press conference, Pierre Poilievre effectively pushed back against the idea that the establishment media should be the dominant interpreter of truth in the country.

In response to a question about his ‘lack’ of press conferences, Poilievre pointed out that he has held many media events across the country, including with many ethnic media outlets.

Poilievre’s response helped to expose the arrogant attitude that much of the press gallery holds, an attitude in which they feel like the sole purveyors of truth in Canada:

Poilievre was also asked about the ongoing Emergencies Act Inquiry, and reiterated his support for the pro-freedom cause and peaceful protestors, while condemning illegal actions:

“I support those peaceful and law-abiding protesters who demonstrated for their livelihoods and liberties.”

An effective communication style

Poilievre continues to demonstrate a strong ability to counter Liberal/media narratives.

And his move to call out the arrogant attitude of the press gallery was smart, especially given his mention of ethnic media outlets.

In much of the country, people get their news from local news outlets and outlets founded by Canadian immigrant communities, and Poilievre has been speaking to those communities.

When the press gallery pretends that those outlets don’t matter, or that only the press gallery can deliver the news, it only serves to deepen their disconnect from a growing number of Canadians.

Continuing to call this out will help to blunt the power of the press gallery and ensure a more competitive and open media landscape.
