Under Liberal Rule, Canada’s Homicide Rate Has Surged

The homicide rate has been steadily rising under the Liberal government and their soft-on-crime policies.

A surge in gang-related violence has pushed Canada’s homicide rate to the highest level since 2005.

Between 2005 and 2015 – Canada’s homicide rate had declined.

This coincided with the Conservatives imposing more tough-on-crime policies that were attacked by many ‘experts’ and left-wing politicians, yet resulted in lower levels of violent crime.

Many of those policies were subsequently struck down by the courts and/or repealed by the Liberals after their victory in 2015.

The Liberals have also pushed for an increasingly radical approach to crime, blaming criminal action on ‘discrimination’ and ‘society’ rather than focusing on personal responsibility.

And now, we are seeing the ‘results.’

According to new Statistics Canada data, the homicide rate in Canada is now 2.06 homicides per 100,000 people.

This is a 3% increase over the previous year, and brings the homicide rate to the highest level it’s been at since 2005.

The homicide rate has now increased three years in a row.

Homicides surged the most in Ontario and BC.

Gang violence surge

A key factor driving the surge in the homicide rate is a significant increase in gang violence.

According to Stats Can, “Overall, gang-related homicides continued to account for nearly one-quarter (23%) of all homicides. However, the 2021 gang-related rate was the highest (0.48 per 100,000 population) recorded in Canada since comparable data were first collected in 2005.”

Common-sense versus political correctness

What we are seeing in this country is a failure of the politically-correct approach to crime.

The Liberals make everything about identity and racism, and then focus their efforts on taking guns away from law-abiding Canadians in rural areas.

This directs resources away from where the real crime surge is happening: Gangs in urban areas.

It’s an approach that many so-called ‘experts’ favour, yet the results have been disastrous.

We need to get back to a common-sense approach to crime, an approach that was working far better – according to the actual stats – than the current soft-on-crime policies.

Canada needs tougher sentences for violent crime, more effort focused on gangs and tougher border measures to stop illegal gun smuggling.

Without returning to common-sense, our nation will become more and more dangerous and more innocent Canadians will suffer the consequences of failed Liberal policy on crime.
