The Liberal Public Safety Minister Is Putting An ‘Equity Lens’ Above Canada’s National Security

How can we protect our nation if we allow naïve political correctness to dominate our decision making?

Many of Canada’s allies have a foreign agent registry.

For example, both the United States and Australia ensure that foreign agents are tracked, so their activities are known.

In an era when countries like Communist China are seeking to undermine the Western world, steal technology, and expand their influence, our allies have realized that ignoring foreign subversion attempts is untenable.

And, given that both the United States and Australia are both diverse and inclusive societies, it’s obvious that it is quite possible to protect your nation from foreign influence and be open to diverse communities at the same time.

But not here in Canada apparently.

Instead, our Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino seems unable to understand his job, and is far more worried about being politically-correct than he is about protecting the country.

When asked about Canada bringing in a foreign agent registry similar to our allies, he said the following:

“There is a historical context when it comes to some communities within this country and their relationship with ‘security’ agencies and the law-enforcement community. We need agencies to be inclusive, diverse, culturally sensitive.”

As noted by David Mulroney, China’s use of foreign agents is their main way to damage Canada:

“Mendicino: foreign-agent registry would need equity lens, could be part of ‘tool box’  (Interference by proxy, by foreign agent, is China’s main tool for corrupting our democracy)”

Senator Leo Housakos – who has introduced a bill to bring in a foreign agent registry – the Liberals have been blocking attempts to protect the country from foreign influence:

“My bill S237 calling for a foreign agent registry has been blocked in the Senate since November 2021. More than a year Trudeau’s Senators have sat on it, not even allowing it to proceed to committee for study. Why is that @marcomendicino?”

The Public Safety ministry is not the place for political correctness

If a politician’s job is outreach and campaigning, a bit of political correctness is understandable.

But for a public safety minister, political correctness is not something that should come into consideration when discussing how to defend the country.

After all, China purposely seeks to label any attempts to counter their influence attempts as ‘racist,’ or ‘bigoted,’ meaning Mendicino is completely buying into the Chinese Communist Party narrative.

Canada needs real and serious leadership, leadership that understands that protecting our nation and protecting our core values of freedom and democracy must be placed above political correctness.

Clearly, Marco Mendicino has proven himself incapable of that.
