House Of Commons Bans TikTok On House-Managed Mobile Devices

Move follows similar action by the federal government.

The House of Commons has joined the federal government in banning TikTok from mobile devices.

The ban will take effect March 3, 2023:

“On February 27, 2023, the House of Commons Administration informed all users of House-managed devices that the mobile application TikTok may no longer be installed, effective March 3, 2023, at 9:00 p.m. (ET).

As such, parliamentary users must remove the application from their House of Commons-provided devices as soon as possible.

The House of Common’s decision to remove access to the application on its corporate assets follows a series of consultations with national security partners and is aligned with similar action taken by other jurisdictions and institutions.”

The move will add further pressure on NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh to suspend his account on the China-owned app, something the Conservative Caucus has already said they will do.
