The Conservative Leader also pushed back against Justin Trudeau’s claim that the Opposition was “undermining” democracy.
With Justin Trudeau going on the attack against the Opposition amid a growing backlash to the appointment of self-described “family friend” David Johnston as ‘Special Rapporteur’, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is pushing back. Speaking at a press conference primarily focused on housing affordability, Poilievre said Trudeau was the one undermining confidence in democracy, and said Trudeau had placed David Johnston in a “terrible situation” by appointing him. Amid Trudeau’s attempt to change the channel, public opinion continues to show strong support for an independent public inquiry, something the Prime Minister continues to resist.
You can watch Poilievre’s remarks below:
“It is Justin Trudeau that has put Mr. Johnston in this terrible situation: by naming a member of the China-financed Trudeau Foundation to perform this role,” Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre says when asked about his reaction to PM’s special rapporteur selection.”
