They lied for years, got caught, and are now lying about lying.
To sell the carbon tax to skeptical Canadians, the Liberals repeatedly hammered home the following line:
“Most Canadians will get back more in rebates than they pay.”
Turns out, that was a lie:

“Guilbeault admitted “that while the “average household will pay more” because of the carbon price increase, even after the rebates, he says the system is designed to be proportional, meaning wealthier Canadians will still foot larger bills.
“If you do the average, yeah, it’s true, it’s going to cost more money to people, but the people who are paying are the richest among us, which is exactly how the system was designed,” he said.”
Guilbeault is still lying here even as he tacitly admits to the fact that the Liberals were lying all along.
Guilbeault – a known eco radical who has no business being a government minister – is leaving out the fact that it’s not just the ‘rich’ who will be paying more, it’s a majority of Canadians – including large segments of middle class and working class Canadians.
Additionally, high inflation means that incomes once considered ‘rich’ don’t go as far these days.
Trudeau lies about lies
The admission by Guilbeault makes it beyond obvious the Liberals were lying all along, and knew they were lying.
Remember, here’s what Trudeau said when he was selling the carbon tax:
"Based on our analysis, most households will pay more in fuel charges and GST—as well as receiving slightly lower incomes—than they will receive in Climate Action Incentive payments.”

The Liberals decided to use the ‘foot in the door’ technique, telling Canadians a nice story to get people to acquiesce to the carbon tax, and then – once the full cost is revealed – saying it’s been in place for so long so it may as well stay.
That kind of manipulation and deception goes to the very heart of the Trudeau Liberal attitude. They don’t view us as Citizens or as people who have a right to be free and make our own decisions, they view us merely as pawns in their ideological games and obsession with being seen as ‘saving the planet,’ so they’ll lie to us and try to trick us if it serves their goals.
The carbon tax has been revealed as a scam and a lie, and Canadians need to act accordingly be defeating the Liberal politicians who went along with it.
