Vancouver’s New Race-Based Handcuff Policy Is A Disgrace

Political correctness is making our country more dangerous and putting the lives of innocent Canadians at risk. We should be going in the opposite direction, not doubling-down on an approach that has completely failed.

A key reason for the surge in violent crime in Canada is that we are being subjected to a radical experiment.

Essentially, we are finding out what happens when violent criminals are treated as victims and are coddled by the ‘justice’ system rather than being held accountable.

This attitude creates a situation in which everything is reversed. Innocent people end up being punished because we are put at risk from criminals walking about freely, while criminals are treated as if they are innocent despite committing heinous crimes.

Race-based policies are a disaster

True equality under the law would mean judging people based on their actions. A cold-blooded murder isn’t different based on the race, gender, religion, or other background detail of the person who did it. It’s still a cold-blooded murder.

Likewise, blaming ‘society’ or ‘poverty’ or ‘colonialism’ for a crime committed by someone also makes no sense. After all, why should an Indigenous person who commits a crime be treated differently than a non-Indigenous person. In a way, the idea that ‘history’ should be taken into account when considering a criminal action is insulting to the many Indigenous People who don’t commit any crimes at all. It’s a kind of low-expectations attitude that only makes things worse.

It is also discriminatory to think that someone from a one ethnic group should face either a tougher or softer punishment for the same crime because of their ethnic background or because of historical events they had nothing to do with.

Either we are all equal under the law, or the government has decided to embrace racist policy-making. There’s no middle ground there.

Vancouver’s race-based handcuff policy

As one of the places where violent crime is surging, Vancouver should be relentlessly cracking down on criminals and removing all traces of politically-correct thinking from their policing decisions.

Unfortunately, while Vancouver has made some progress by taking down the illegal homeless encampment, it seems politically-correct thinking still has significant influence there:

“Vancouver police have released a new policy to change the process of handcuffing people.

According to police, the new policy will see police officers follow “strategic improvements” when it comes to using handcuffs.

Vancouver police officers will now have to consider if handcuffs are appropriate given the circumstances of the ongoing incident and will have to take into account the suspect’s age, disabilities, medical condition, injuries, size and ethnicity.”

Will this make people safer? Of course not.

Will it dissuade criminals? Nope.

Will it increase respect for the system? Not at all. In face, it will do just the opposite. It might make sense not to handcuff a tiny old lady who couldn’t put up a fight, but why should something like ethnicity be considered?

The policy should be the same for all races, and the fact that I even have to say that shows how crazy things are becoming in Canada. We cannot be making policy that divides people along racial lines. We need to put an end to this politically-correct BS and get back to common-sense, which means cracking down on crime and punishing criminals based on their crimes, not their background.
