Amid Trudeau Foundation Chaos, David Johnston Must Step Aside

The ‘Special Rapporteur’ needs to be abolished. We need a full independent public inquiry now.

The Trudeau Foundation is now engulfed in chaos, as the fallout of Communist China’s election interference continues.

The whole board of directors resigned, which I wrote about earlier:

“In a shocking turn of events, the entire Trudeau Foundation Board of Directors has resigned. All of them.

Pascale Fournier – President & CEO of the Trudeau Foundation – has also resigned.

Here’s what the Trudeau Foundation said in a statement:

“In recent weeks, the political climate surrounding a donation received by the Foundation in 2016 has put a great deal of pressure on the Foundation’s management and volunteer Board of Directors, as well as on our staff and our community.

The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation is an independent, non-partisan scholarship organization created with broad support in the House of Commons in 2002.

The circumstances created by the politicization of the Foundation have made it impossible to continue with the status quo, and the volunteer Board of Directors has resigned, as has the President and CEO.

Three directors have agreed to remain on an interim basis so that the Foundation can continue to meet its obligations pending Board renewal, including towards its Scholars, Mentors and Fellows.

We would like to thank Pascale Fournier for her work as President and CEO over the past five years, as well as all the members of the Board of Directors.””

David Johnston has to go

The Trudeau Foundation is now engulfed in chaos. They have no credibility. This is all related to their acceptance of a donation linked to the Chinese Communist Party. And those linked to the Trudeau Foundation also have severe credibility problems now.

With all of that in mind, it’s obvious that having Trudeau Foundation-connected David Johnston as the ‘Special Rapporteur’ is completely untenable.

Thus, David Johnston has to step aside.

There’s no way to trust the role, or trust that Trudeau Foundation-connected individuals can be unbiased. If Johnston remains, then he will simply lose more public credibility and more and more Canadians will see all of this as a cover-up orchestrated by Trudeau and his cronies.

Furthermore, the ‘Special Rapporteur’ role itself needs to be abolished. We don’t need to wait to see if an inquiry is necessary, it’s obvious that an inquiry is necessary now. The chaos at the Trudeau Foundation provides even more momentum for an inquiry, because something big is obviously going on and Canadians are right to demand answers.

The more Trudeau puts off an inquiry, the more it looks like he has something big to hide, and the more he shows total contempt for Canadians.
