Throw the damn towel!
You almost have to feel bad for Mark Gerretsen.
Almost.
The poor fellow is so desperate to be taken seriously, so desperate to be a high-powered orator, but he just doesn’t have it.
He’s not smart enough, as he makes even Justin Trudeau and Melanie Joly look like Mensa members by comparison.
He’s not charismatic enough.
And most of all, he’s not self-respecting enough to stop abasing himself in a desperate quest for Justin Trudeau’s approval – and a cabinet post.
And so, with the Liberals doing exactly what I predicted they would do a while back – trying to politicize Canada’s support for Ukraine in an attempt to make it into a wedge issue – it was Mark Gerretsen who was sent out to try and sell the pathetically dishonest Liberal narrative.
It went about as well as anyone could have expected.
Gerretsen tried his best, but he got absolutely demolished by Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre.
Poilievre noted that it was the Conservatives who have long stood with Ukraine and stood against Russian aggression.
And he noted that the Liberals have refused to take actions that could have weakened Russia’s energy export profits, rendering all of Trudeau’s tough talk completely meaningless.
And of course, the disastrous Zelensky visit that gave Russia a huge propaganda talking point was organized under Trudeau’s watch.
On point after point, Poilievre dismantled Gerretsen’s ‘argument’.
You can tell Poilievre didn’t have to use most of his brainpower to counter Gerretsen, but it’s still a moment worth watching:
