Steven Guilbeault could easily have compromised. Instead, he and Trudeau chose to keep ramming their unpopular and destructive policies through, and have thus left Alberta with no option but to stand up for itself.
Steven Guilbeault is an eco-extremist and admitted ‘socialist’.
Thus, it’s no surprise that he despises Canada’s most economically successful, entrepreneurial, and competitive province – Alberta.
Guilbeault is likely jealous of the dynamism and strength of Albertans, but since he can’t admit that he instead chooses to try and destroy Alberta’s economy while pretend it’s all about ‘saving the environment.’
By empowering Guilbeault and refusing to rein in his eco-extremism, Justin Trudeau has also made clear that he himself is an eco-extremist and a socialist who poses a serious threat to the prosperity of Alberta and Canada overall.
And so, since neither of the eco-radical socialists are prepared to be reasonable and consider different points of view, Alberta has been left with no choice but to invoke the Sovereignty Act, which Alberta Premier Danielle Smith announced today:

Today, Alberta said NO to Minister Stephen Guilbeault’s ‘Clean Energy Regulations’.
Our province has jurisdictional rights afforded to us under the constitution. The Supreme Court and Federal Court have already ruled on the matter.
It’s time for the Trudeau government to stop ignoring the rule of law and start acting like a national government, working collaboratively with the provinces.”

“We have tried to work with Ottawa to align their emissions-reduction efforts with our provincial plan to achieve a carbon-neutral power grid by 2050. Unfortunately, after months of meetings, they continue to reject this opportunity and remain committed to an absurdly unrealistic and unattainable goal of a net-zero power grid by 2035.
We are left with no choice but to create a shield to protect Albertans from Ottawa’s dangerous and unconstitutional electricity regulations. They may be willing to expose Albertans to high costs, blackouts and brownouts, but we are not, and we will continue to ensure Albertans are protected from these destructive and unconstitutional federal policies.”

This is a strong and necessary move being made by Premier Smith.
Alberta is being attacked by Guilbeault & Trudeau, and it cannot sit by and allow it to happen. All Canadians who value economic freedom, energy security, our constitution, capitalism, and prosperity, should stand with Alberta and stand against the dangerous eco-socialists who threaten Canada’s economic future.
