Some humility would be nice.
Since the October 7th terror attack committed by Hamas against Israel, Canada’s main political parties have gone in very different directions.
The Conservatives under Pierre Poilievre have been steadfast in their support for Israel and the Canadian Jewish community.
The Liberals have tried to play both sides, with some of their MPs standing with the Jewish community, and others making common cause with anti-Semitic ‘protestors.’
The NDP has gone all-in on supporting the ‘pro-Palestinian’ movement, which has included siding with groups that have been espousing anti-Semitism and attempting to turn Canada away from our historic tradition of supporting Israel.
In particular, NDP Foreign Affairs Critic Heather McPherson has been constantly pushing for Canada to halt arms exports to Israel, even as Israel faces existential risk from Iran-backed terror groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis.
McPherson and the NDP were also relentless in their push for Canada to ‘resume’ funding for UNRWA, though it turned out the government never really halted the funding in the first place.
Still, McPherson pushed for Canadian taxpayer dollars to go to UNRWA, even as UNRWA faced credible allegations that some of their staff had participated in the October 7th attack.
And now, with UNRWA admitting some of their employees almost certainly did participate in the attack, the NDP’s position looks even worse:

Will the NDP acknowledge this?
Will they admit their mistake?
Will they show some humility?
Almost certainly not.
But they should.
And they – along with the Liberal government – should permanently end all Canadian funding for UNRWA.
