That’s why we must be prepared for endless distractions.
When a government has been in power for almost a decade, how it campaigns against its main opponent tells you a lot.
If the government has done well, they can campaign to keep the good times rolling.
If they’ve governed poorly, all they can do is try to scare people away from voting for someone else.
Guess which path the Liberals are taking.
Can the Liberals campaign on rising per capita GDP?
Nope, because our per capita GDP is falling.
Can the Liberals campaign on safer streets and communities?
Nope, because violent crime is surging.
Can the Liberals campaign on Canada’s international reputation?
Nope, because we are increasingly seen as a nation that lacks credibility and refuses to meet our commitments.
Can the Liberals campaign on national unity?
Nope, because our nation feels more divided every day, and much of that division is the result of a deliberate divide-and-conquer strategy by the Liberal government.
Can the Liberals campaign on our social programs?
Nope, because those programs are more strained than ever before. We spend more and get less.
Can the Liberals campaign on our once-vaunted immigration system?
Nope, because they have wrecked that system.
The fundamental problem for the Liberals is that they can’t win on the facts. They can’t win on the reality of life in Canada today.
That’s why they continue to resort to endless distractions and deflections. And that’s why we must confront those deflections to ensure the truth prevails.
