BC Conservative Leader responds to NDP effort to convince people B.C. is in the United States.
The B.C. NDP is getting desperate, and as left-wing Canadian political parties often do when they’re in trouble, they’re pretending they live in the United States.
The NDP is trying to claim that ‘abortion is on the ballot’ in B.C., even though it is not.
All of Canada’s major federal parties – including the Conservatives who dominate the polls – have made clear there will be no changes to access to abortion in Canada.
And in B.C., Rustad is doing the same:
“Under a BC Conservative government, access to abortion, contraception and other items will remain exactly as it is now. There will be no changes.
David Eby insists on using the oldest, dirtiest campaign tricks in the book, let me be absolutely clear.
David Eby’s lying will not distract from his governments disastrous policies. #bcpoli”

The fact is that the political environment in Canada is quite different than in the U.S. Any major Canadian political party that sought to restrict access to abortion and birth control would be crushed by the electorate.
Rustad knows this.
Eby knows this.
And while Rustad’s clear statement probably won’t stop the NDP from pretending B.C. is an American State, it should help convince persuadable centrist voters that the B.C. Conservatives have a moderate perspective on social issues.
