The NDP is running away from Trudeau’s ‘signature’ climate policy.
B.C. NDP Premier David Eby has buckled on the carbon tax.
Eby has announced that the NDP government will pull the carbon tax if the federal government stops forcing provinces to impose it.
“NEW -@Dave_Eby says BC will scrap the carbon tax if the current or future federal government was to remove the national requirement for one.
This is a policy change from previous Eby position that BC would continue to lead with a carbon tax no matter what Ottawa or other provinces do.
“The political consensus we had in British Columbia has been badly damaged by the approach of the federal government to this issue,” says Eby.”

As noted by Brad Zubyk, this is a huge reversal from what Eby was saying last year:

This is a huge capitulation by Eby, and shows how the B.C. Conservatives are now driving the agenda in B.C., forcing the NDP into desperate responses:
John Rustad the the Conservatives proven right yet again.
Every week there’s a new BC NDP capitulation.
Onwards and upwards. #BCpoli https://t.co/bYuMehsULK
