The NDP Leader’s negative ratings have hit a new high.
Jagmeet Singh and the NDP were surely hoping they would get a boost from ending their pact with the Liberals.
But so far, that’s not how things are turning out.
Singh finds himself and his party under attack from the Liberals for abandoning the deal and turning against the carbon tax, and by the Conservatives for having propped up the Liberals for so long.
So far, that two-front battle is taking a toll.
According to the latest Abacus Data poll, Singh’s popularity has plunged:

Singh’s negative ratings have hit a new high, and his positive ratings match the lowest point in Abacus surveys.
This is bad news for the NDP, as it indicates he is losing progressive support for ending the Liberal-NDP deal, without gaining any support from Canadians who want a change in government.
This fits with what I said in a recent edition of my Exclusive Political Analysis Newsletter. The NDP has stumbled upon a decent strategy, but Jagmeet Singh doesn’t seem to have what it takes to make that strategy work.
