A new Mainstreet Research poll puts the Liberals in third place.
The polls keep getting worse for the Liberals.
And the latest Mainstreet Research poll may be the worst yet.
According to the latest survey, the Liberals have fallen below 20%, and now trail the NDP.
This poll will be devasting for the Liberals for multiple reasons.
First, trailing the NDP is disastrous for a party that once dominated Canadian politics. Especially given how lacklustre Jagmeet Singh’s performance as NDP Leader has been, falling behind the NDP is a significant indictment of the Prime Minister.
Second, 20% is an important psychological level of support. To fall below it will have Liberals thinking about their disastrous 2011 election performance, and makes the prospect of a full-blown collapse all the more likely.
Third, the ongoing decline to new polling lows further weakens Justin Trudeau’s leadership. Despite all the attacks he’s launched against Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, despite all the speeches and big announcements, nothing is working for the Liberals.
Meanwhile, Pierre Poilievre continues to keep the Conservatives in a very strong position. They now have more support than the Liberals & NDP combined, which is further evidence that a critical mass of Canadians have decided the Conservative Party is the only credible choice for change in the next election.
