It’s an entirely fair label. Only those who want to posture as unbiased while relying upon government funding would object to it.

Real democracy needs independent thinking and accurately labelled media
CBC has long been doing the bidding of the Trudeau Liberals, with skewed coverage and a clear pro-Liberal bias.
CBC has an undeniable financial interest in keeping the Liberals in power, since Trudeau has massively increased their budget, and since they know their funding will drop if the Conservatives get into office.
CBC also sued the Conservatives during a federal election, at a time when a key debate was moderated by CBC News reporter Rosemary Barton.
When you combine CBC’s bias with Trudeau’s media bailouts, and legislation like C-11 and C-18, you can see how CBC is an undeniable part of the Trudeau Liberal’s efforts to make Canada more like a place like China – where all media is controlled by the government and pushes the government line.
The problem here isn’t really that CBC is biased, it’s that CBC is biased while forcing us to fund them and hiding behind supposed objectivity.
If CBC was a private outlet funded by willing contributors, there would be no issue with them taking a clear pro-Liberal or pro-government bias.
The problem is that we don’t get a choice whether to fund them, and when they posture as the ‘national broadcaster’ they fool some people – though fewer and fewer given their ratings.
Real democracy needs more independent voices who can call out the government, and who aren’t funded by taxpayer dollars. And we need accurate labelling of the media, so people know exactly what is going on.
That’s why Twitter’s move to label CBC as government funded media is both accurate and a positive development for freedom in Canada. Anyone objecting to the label is giving you a big clue that they want to push a pro-Liberal, pro-Trudeau message while forcing you to fund them against your will. And that’s something we should all vehemently oppose.
