NDP Leader won’t end Liberal-NDP Pact despite David Johnston’s Betrayal.
Jagmeet Singh has surrendered.
Following David Johnston’s disgusting betrayal of the nation by doing Trudeau’s bidding, the NDP Leader said he opposed Johnston’s move, and renewed his calls for a public inquiry.
Singh said the NDP would use every tool at their disposal in Parliament to push for an inquiry.
But those words have already proven to be empty, because the one tool that Singh could really use is the tool he refuses to use.
If Singh made it clear that the ongoing Liberal-NDP Collectivist Pact would end if the Liberals didn’t call a public inquiry, then Justin Trudeau would have to choose between calling an inquiry or having an election.
Thus, Singh could almost ensure a public inquiry takes place with one simple statement.
And yet, he’s already ruled it out:
.@theJagmeetSingh says he’s disappointed @GGDavidJohnston would not endorse public inquiry but #NDP may not force election. “That’s not a decision we’re making today.” https://t.co/zrItr1sCzv #cdnpoli @NDP pic.twitter.com/gmRq6Ik0XZ

In an interview, Singh said David Johnston’s work was “important” and “should continue”:
“You’re the only leader with actual leverage. You have the hammer. Why won’t you use it?”
Don’t hold your breath for Jagmeet Singh to do the honorable thing & use the confidence and supply agreement
This should bring down @theJagmeetSingh too”

Notice how Singh says the NDP wouldn’t “decide today” on whether or not to threaten an election. But saying he wasn’t making the decision now is another way of not making the decision.
The most dangerous moment for the Liberals was the moment of maximum outrage following Johnston’s decision not to call for an inquiry. So, by delaying any use of his real leverage, Singh gives Trudeau a free pass and takes the pressure of the Liberals.
This is a clear surrender by Singh.
Further, it shows that Singh and Trudeau continue to work together. Singh pretends to oppose the Liberals once in a while, but his opposition never leads to anything. When it matters, when it’s a decision whether to keep the Liberals in power, Singh always gives in and does what the Liberals want.
By surrendering so quickly, Singh is aiding Trudeau’s attack on Canada’s democratic institutions. Singh is protecting Trudeau from real accountability, and this emboldens China to further subvert our nation. Singh, Trudeau, Johnston, and those who back them are all undermining our nation and putting our rights and freedoms at risk.
