Singh’s “greedflation” rhetoric is all about ensuring that he and Justin Trudeau avoid being held responsible for the damage caused by their reckless spending.
Jagmeet Singh continues to lead the NDP in a very odd direction.
From time to time, Singh and the NDP still criticize the Trudeau Liberals, with a few rhetorical flourishes that make it seem the NDP is actually an opposition party.
But on everything of substance – whether it’s propping up the Liberals or pre-emptively giving Trudeau a free pass on the Emergencies Act and the results of the Inquiry – Singh and the NDP are simply an offshoot of the Liberal Party hiding behind a different name.
Consider Singh’s “greedflation” rhetoric.
Singh has responded to the surge in prices by blaming CEO’s and “Conservative politicians” for prices going up, even though the Conservatives are not in power at the present moment.
Singh is attempting get Canadians to blame “big companies” for the fact that prices are rising.
This just so happens to be politically convenient for Singh, as it allows him to avoid any responsibility.
Yet, Singh – along with Trudeau – played a huge role in driving up prices:
Singh supported the inflationary carbon tax, and supports raising it by 300%.
Singh supported Trudeau’s anti-energy/anti-pipeline policies, thus leaving Canada with a smaller supply of energy and thus higher prices than we would otherwise have.
Singh supported Justin Trudeau’s reckless spending increases (much of which was not related to the pandemic).
Singh’s ‘fix’ for inflation was a proposal to borrow more money and give it out – the exact policies that have put Canada in this situation.
Singh continues to support more borrowing, higher deficits, and more government spending.
Singh’s ‘national dental coverage plan,’ which formed the basis of the Liberal-NDP Pact, ended up turning into cheques being sent out. Those cheques were of course ‘paid for’ with borrowed money.
What this all means is that Jagmeet Singh’s policies – or more accurately the policies he enabled by continually propping up the Liberals – have driven up prices for Canadians. Jagmeet Singh certainly knows this, and is trying to avoid that knowledge spreading among Canadians.
So, Singh is pandering to economic illiteracy, and is trying to shift the blame for inflation onto others.
It’s a pathetic and manipulative move because rather than accept that he was mistaken in the policies he supported, he’s compounding his mistake by trying to get Canadians to blame those who aren’t actually responsible for inflation.
Does anyone really believe that companies just became ‘greedy’ out of nowhere?
And does anyone really believe that all this supposed ‘greed’ just coincidentally overlaps with a massive increase in the money supply, lockdowns that restricted production, and a huge influx of borrowed money into the economy?
Clearly, Jagmeet Singh’s ‘greedflation’ rhetoric is nothing more than a desperate political ploy by somebody who clearly lacks an understanding of economic & monetary policy.
