Canadian Permanent Residents With Children To Be Evacuated From Epicenter Of Coronavirus Outbreak

They will be flown to Canada on a chartered flight.

China’s government is allowing Canadian permanent residents with children to be evacuated from Wuhan, the city at the epicenter of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

As long as one family member, whether a parent or child, has citizenship status, the family will be allowed to leave.

Notably, permanent residents without children will not be allowed to leave.

According to the government, 280 individuals with Canadian passports wish to be evacuated on the Canadian flight. Another flight may also be sent if necessary.

The government has previously indicated that those brought back from Wuhan will be quarantined for 14 days.

Many Canadians remain concerned by the weak response of the Trudeau government to the Coronavirus outbreak. While multiple countries have shut down flights to and from China and implemented rigorous screening procedures, Canada so far is not banning flights, and screening has been non-existent in many cases.
