After Saying The ‘Risk Is Low,’ Patty Hadju Is Now Telling Canadians To Stockpile Food & Medicine

The incompetence, mixed messages, and obsession with political correctness has put Canadians at severe risk.

For weeks, the Trudeau Liberal government downplayed the Coronavirus epidemic, saying the risk was low.

The government even called ideas such as shutting down flights from China ‘fearmongering’ and ‘racism.’

In short, they made it clear there was no real problem, that the flights would continue, that the borders would remain open, and protective measures would be limited.

But now, with no transition whatsoever, they’re switching to full on panic-mode, telling us to prepare for a pandemic.

“The Liberal government kept telling us not to worry about the Coronavirus, repeating ‘the risk was low.’ Then, without any transition whatsoever, they simply switched to saying we should prepare for a pandemic. A stunning level of incompetence, putting Canadian lives at risk.”

And now, Patty Hadju is escalating the warning, telling Canadians to stockpile food and medicine, as reported by the Canadian Press:

“Health Minister Patty Hajdu is encouraging Canadians to stockpile food and medication in their homes in case they or a loved one should fall ill with the novel coronavirus, despite the relatively low risk of contracting the disease in Canada.

It’s good advice for any potential crisis from a viral outbreak to power outages, she said Wednesday.

“It’s good to be prepared because things can change quickly,” she said.

“It’s really about, first of all, making sure that you do have enough supplies so if someone in your family becomes ill, if you yourself become ill, that you have what you need to survive for a week or so without going outside.”

So, we’ve gone from “no threat,” to “stockpile food and medicine.”

What this means – and of course the government will never admit it, is that they blew the response from the beginning.

The right response to a potential pandemic is to overreact, assume the worst, limit travel, block access from places where the pandemic is spreading the worst, implement strict quarantine measures, and ensure that a virus-spreading tipping point is not reached.

Then, if that turns out to be an overreaction, at least the country is over-prepared, and measures can be slowly scaled back as appropriate.

Instead, the Trudeau Liberals did the opposite. They underreacted, they demonized those who wanted stronger measures, and they pretended everything was fine. Now that they are starting to realize their mistake, they are escalating the rhetoric, equivalent to shutting the barn door after the horses have already bolted.

This is a disgusting level of incompetence, and the price will paid by Canadians.
