“You are definitely with the CBC” said the Conservative Leader in response.
A few weeks ago, the Liberals claimed that opponents of their hunting rifle ban were spreading “misinformation.”
Justin Trudeau said the legislation was essential.
Liberal partisans were fearmongering relentlessly, attempting to demonize anyone who questioned what the Liberals were doing.
But today, they retreated.
Acknowledging the massive backlash against the proposed amendments to Bill C-21 – amendments which would have banned a massive number of firearms used by Canadian hunters, farmers, and sport shooters, the Liberals backed-off.
Of course, they only did so because the pressure was too much to bear.
Just as we’ve seen with their approach to Bill C-11, where they would back off temporarily only to reintroduce egregious proposals when public attention was focused elsewhere, it’s obvious the Liberals will try again at some point.
So, when a CBC reporter suggested to Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre that the Liberals were showing “good faith” by backing down, Poilievre couldn’t help but laugh and explain why that was so absurd.
You can watch the moment below:
“Seriously?
The CBC suggested today Trudeau was showing “good faith” by pausing his hunting rifle ban.
Good faith? This was a deliberate attack on rural & Indigenous people.
He only backtracked because my team forced him to.”

Poilievre is right when he notes that the CBC is trying to help the Liberals “out of a bad situation.”
Having a friendly state-run media apparatus is one of Justin Trudeau’s biggest sources of political strength, and it’s good to see that the CPC under Poilievre understands that and is willing to confront it.
The establishment media will always be more sympathetic to the Liberals than the Conservatives, because they know the Liberals will keep giving them more and more taxpayer money no matter how low their ratings get.
Trying to win over the CBC and establishment media hasn’t worked for past Conservative Leaders, and Poilievre clearly recognizes that it’s better to get his own message out directly to Canadians.
