“He wants to keep Beijing’s election meddling behind closed doors to avoid answering the real question – what did he now, and when?” said Cooper.
Conservative MP & Democratic Reform Shadow Minister Michael Cooper wasted little time responding to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s press conference on foreign election interference.
In a statement on Twitter, Cooper called the announcement “nothing but a smokescreen,” and reiterated that the Conservatives will continue pushing for Trudeau’s Chief of Staff Katie Telford to testify on what the PMO knew:
“Trudeau’s announcement this evening is nothing but a smokescreen.
He wants to keep Beijing’s election meddling behind closed doors to avoid answering the real question – what did he know, and when?
We’re not backing down on calling Telford to committee to get answers.”

The Conservatives have now tried three times to have Telford testify.
Each time, the combination of Liberal & NDP votes have blocked the motion.
With the NDP having called for a public inquiry – a call Trudeau seems to be rebuffing yet again – it remains to be seen whether the NDP will stop blocking the Conservative motion.
