EXPERT WARNS: Melanie Joly’s “Performative Politics” Could Weaken Canada’s National Defence Relationship With The U.S.

The danger of a government obsessed with short-term thinking.

In the wake of Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly halting arms exports to Israel – including intervening to stop a Canadian shipment to the U.S. that was set to go to Israel, Geopolitical Expert Alise Mills is warning about the impact this could have on our national defence relationship with the United States.

“Well, this is a huge problem. Specialists at@NationalDefence are worried. @melaniejoly performative politics re #export ban will likely:
1. Piss off the Americans because they rely on
2. General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems – Canada (GD-OTS Canada) LAP plant ( #Quebec) to make it possible to meet ammunition load, assemble, and pack requests —It goes to US.

“It’s one of a few companies in North America with this unique capability of manufacturing diversified calibers of military ammunition and propellant at one location.”

This is the danger of a government so obsessed with the recovering in the polls that they are making all their decisions based on short-term political gain, rather than the long-term interests of Canada and our allies.
