Liberals Fall To Just 23% In New Poll

The Conservatives lead by 18 points.

Months ago, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reportedly set an internal goal to try and motivate the Liberal Caucus:

Narrow the polling gap by five points.

Unfortunately for the Liberals, they have achieved that goal, but not in the way they wanted to.

The polling gap has indeed narrowed…

Between the Liberals and the NDP.

According to a new Leger poll, just 23% of Canadians are planning to vote for the Liberals, compared to 20% for the NDP. That’s a narrower gap than in most recent polls.

Of course, the gap the Liberals really wanted to narrow was the gap between them and the Conservatives.

And there, they were not quite so successful.

That gap is now 18 points in the Leger poll, with a similar margin between the top two parties in other polls as well.

With their failure to close the polling gap, what will Trudeau say next to try and keep the Liberal caucus onside?
