Genuis exposed how the Liberal record on Ukraine often hasn’t matched up with reality.
At a recent event in support of Ukraine, Liberal MP Arif Virani sought to politicize the issue and criticize the Conservatives.
This is something we’ve seen quite often from the Liberals, as they once again pretend the Conservatives are the same as the Trump Republicans.
But of course, the parties are very different.
And one of the many issues they differ on is Ukraine.
While a significant segment of the U.S. Republican Party is now in thrall to the disturbing anti-NATO, anti-Western, anti-Ukraine, pro-Russia sentiment of people like Tucker Carlson, the Conservative Party in Canada has been staunchly pro-Ukraine.
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has consistently expressed his support for Ukraine, and the Conservatives have often called for even tougher measures than what the Liberals are delivering, including tougher sanctions on Russia, the consistent application of those sanctions, sending more weapons to Ukraine, and delivering those weapons at a more rapid pace.
Clearly, the Liberal speaker wasn’t aware of this or thought nobody would call out Liberal hypocrisy and attempts to politicize what should be something Canadians across the political spectrum can be united in supporting – standing with Ukraine.
Thankfully, Conservative MP Garnett Genuis wasn’t going to let this slide.
As you can see in the video below, Genuis slammed Liberal hypocrisy, explained the long Conservative record (going back to Stephen Harper’s time as one of the most pro-Ukraine & anti-Russia leaders in the world), and exposed the many ways in which the reality of Liberal support for Ukraine has fallen short of Liberal rhetoric.
He also made clear – speaking on behalf of Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre – that the Conservative Party supports Ukraine.
