Majority of Canadian Supporters of All Parties Back Canada’s Rejection of Trump’s ‘Deal,’ Including a Majority of Conservative Voters

Canadian unity is a stark contrast to Trump’s immense unpopularity.

Canadians are strongly unified behind the Canadian Government’s decision to reject the sovereignty-surrendering ‘deal’ offered by U.S. President Donald Trump. And that unity extends across the political spectrum.

According to a recent Abacus Data poll, 71% of Canadians support the decision, compared to 17% who think it was the wrong move. 87% of Liberal supporters say the government was right to withdraw, compared to 54% of Conservative supporters, 78% of NDP supporters, and 82% of Bloc supporters.

By contrast, 7% of Liberal supporters, 31% of Conservative supporters, 14% of NDP supporters, and 8%.

The Conservative number is worth noting, as it further indicates the extent to which the pro-Trump CPC influencers are out of touch with what most CPC voters want. It also shows what a mistake it is for the CPC to pander to those elements. There is much more support to be gained in the broad and growing unity Canadians are expressing in the face of Trump’s ongoing assault on Canada’s economy and sovereignty.

And that focus on unity can be a real strength for Canada, given that Trump’s approval rating in the U.S. has fallen to just 33%, with 64% disapproving according to a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll. While the U.S. is divided, Canada is unified.
