Conservative MP David Sweet Joins Roman Baber In Calling For End To Lockdowns In Ontario

Sweet says “Lockdowns are harmful to the physical and psychological well being of Ontarians. We should focus on protecting the vulnerable in Long Term Care homes & congregate living settings.”

Conservative MP David Sweet has joined former Ontario PC Party MLA (currently an Independent) Roman Baber in opposing lockdowns in Ontario:

Sweet and Baber held a press conference to share their views, with Sweet saying “Lockdowns are harmful to the physical and psychological well being of Ontarians. We should focus on protecting the vulnerable in Long Term Care homes & congregate living settings.”

“David and I are saying publicly what many elected representatives are saying privately,” said Baber. “The effects of the Lockdown are devastating to the health, mental health and the well being of Ontarians,” he added. “We need to protect LTC homes and let Ontarians go back to a semblance of normal. That’s the best thing to do for their health.”

Here’s what Baber said on Twitter:

“Great news:

David Sweet MP joined me at Queen’s Park this morning to call on Ontario’s Government to #LiftTheLockdown & move Ontario in to Green.

@DavidSweetMP
is the first sitting CPC Member of Parliament to do so & hopefully not the last. Thank you David! #onpoli #cdnpoli”

While most Conservative parties in Canada have gone along with lockdowns, a few Conservative politicians have been speaking out, and it would be good to see more pushing back against the disturbing government overreach we have seen in recent months.
