POLL: 70% Of Canadians Approve Of Canada Providing Support For Ukraine

This number will likely rise, as more people learn about the connections between Hamas, Iran and Russia. We are in a new Cold War, and only those on the far-left and far-right will continue to try and push Russian propaganda narratives in the West.

While much of the world’s attention is understandably on Hamas’s evil terror attacks against Israel, Russia’s brutal assault on Ukraine continues.

Yet, a new poll shows that a dominant majority of Canadians approves of Canada providing support to Ukraine.

According to a Mainstreet Research pollwhich also showed the Conservatives with a dominant lead over the Liberals and showed Canadians strongly supportive of Israel’s right to defend itself – 70% of Canadians approve of our support for Ukraine.

52% strongly support it, while 18% somewhat support it.

Opponents of supporting Ukraine are massively outnumbered.

Just 13% strongly disapprove of support for Ukraine, while 8% somewhat disapprove.

9% say they neither approve nor disapprove.

Propaganda pushers quiet down

Since Hamas’ horrific terror attack against Israel, there has been a noticeable quieting down of those in the West who were pushing Russian propaganda narratives against Ukraine.

While some are still doing so, the decline in the quantity and intensity of such propaganda demonstrates that some people on both the left and the right are waking up to the undeniable reality that we are in a new Cold War.

Russia – though officially feigning neutrality – has sided much more with Hamas than with Israel, with many Russian propagandists praising Hamas, and demonizing Israel. Hamas officials have even thanked Russia for their ‘supportive’ stance.

Meanwhile, it has been the United States who has stood resolutely with Israel, sending them arms, expressing strong support for Israel’s right to defend itself, and moving two carrier strike groups closer to Israel as a sign of support and as a deterrent to Iran and Hezbollah.

Those who had mistakenly seen Russia as some sort of defender of the ‘trad Christian West’ have likely been surprised to see Russia siding with a ruthless genocidal Islamist terror organization. But it should have been no surprise at all. Russia wants to see the Western world fall, and is more than willing to support countries like Iran and terrorist groups like Hamas to make that happen.

And so, it is essential to confront, Hamas, Iran, and Russia, rather than naively thinking we can pick and choose between them.

Confronting Russia means supporting Ukraine, because Ukraine’s success directly weakens Russia’s military and economic power, and a weaker Russia is less able to fund Iran, and a weaker Iran is less of a threat to the West and less able to fund terror groups like Hamas and Hezbollah.

It appears Canadians are – after many years of naivety – beginning to understand the true significance and scope of the threat facing the Western world, and understand that supporting Ukraine is not only the right thing to do from a moral and ethical perspective, but is also in our direct national interest and the interests of our allies.

Going forward, it is likely that only those on the extreme far-left fringe and far-right fringe will keep trying to deny this.
