Trudeau once called intel leaks to Canadian news organizations “criminal”.
In a shocking new report, the Globe & Mail says the Liberal government shared foreign interference intelligence with the Washington Post even as Canadians were being kept in the dark:
“Two sources say Nathalie Drouin, a former deputy minister at Justice and now Mr. Trudeau’s top national security and intelligence adviser, and David Morrison, deputy minister at Global Affairs, gave a briefing on India’s interference operations in Canada to The Washington Post in the week before Thanksgiving. The intelligence was not to be reported until RCMP Commissioner Mike Duheme held a news conference on Thanksgiving Day. ..”
Not only is this an insult to Canadians, but it also shows the Liberal government’s rank hypocrisy. It also shows that Justin Trudeau was caught in another lie.
Trudeau claimed that Pierre Poilievre’s Chief of Staff Ian Todd can’t be briefed on foreign interference information allegedly involving the Conservatives, even though Poilievre’s Chief of Staff has a security clearance.
But now, the Liberals have been caught giving sensitive briefings to the Washington Post – whose reporters don’t have Canadian security clearances.
And of course, Canadian reporters have not been given the same access:
And the contrast with how the government treats interference from Communist China is stunning:
These are very disturbing developments. Rather than acting to protect the Canadian national interest, the Liberals are seeking to protect their political interests. With the federal government led by an increasingly isolated, desperate, and angry Prime Minister, that doesn’t bode well for Canada’s short-term future.
