Liberal MP Sean Casey Calls For Trudeau To Resign

“People have had enough. They’ve tuned him out and they want him to go.”

Liberal MP Sean Casey – representing the riding of Charlottetown – is calling for Justin Trudeau to step down as Liberal Leader.

Casey made the remarks while speaking to CBC News Network’s Power & Politics host David Cochrane:

“The message that I’ve been getting loud and clear — and more and more strongly as time goes by — is that it is time for [Trudeau] to go. And I agree,” he told host David Cochrane in an exclusive interview Tuesday.

“People have had enough. They’ve tuned him out and they want him to go.”

Casey’s remarks follow reporting over the past few days indicating a revolt is brewing against Trudeau within the Liberal Caucus.

Casey also indicated that there is widespread concern about Trudeau’s leadership, and critics are becoming more emboldened:

“I would say it’s wider than meets the eye. There are a lot of people who have concerns.”

“But those who have come to the same conclusion as me seem to be becoming more emboldened with the passage of time.”

By being the first to publicly break with Trudeau in this way since reporting of the growing revolt, Casey is taking a risk, but also giving cover to other MPs who want Trudeau gone. If a few more join in, the ‘drip, drip, drip’ of internal dissent could make Trudeau’s position untenable.
