Patriotic Conservative MPs are rightfully wanting to push back against being lumped in with Jivani’s “blame-Canada” rhetoric. Instead of suppressing those voices or continuing to pander to pro-Trump elements, the CPC leadership should remove Jivani from the CPC Caucus.
In a sign of growing internal dissent, Conservative MP Kyle Seeback tweeted, then deleted, a post saying Jamil Jivani “speaks for no one but himself.”
Kyle Seeback was right to tweet what he did, and I think he should have kept it rather than deleting it. If it was deleted under pressure, that would signify that the CPC is still not fully recognizing the immense damage Jivani’s “blame Canada” tour is doing to the CPC brand. It also appears that there are pro-Trump elements within the CPC that are still trying to exert influence. Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre needs to take immediate action to stifle the influence of those elements, as well as remove Jivani from the CPC Caucus.
If Poilievre can’t convince Conservative MPs to do so, even after Jivani continues to side with the Trump Administration against Canada, then that would mean he has lost control of the party to the pro-Trump elements, something with dire implications for the Official Opposition in this country.
